A Unique Region
The landscape of the Park is as diverse as it is fascinating. Its value is derived from the particular geographic location, from the geological structure, and by the presence of the lake that influence the climate, flora and fauna of the entire area; the unique characteristics of this region typify it as an ideal destination for different types of experiences regarding contact with nature. The beauty of this location is enhanced by the particular synergy between the lakes and the mountains; the fundamental elements of this extraordinary land. Unlike most natural parks, cut out in substantially homogeneous and with mainly naturalistic areas, the park in Alto Garda is characterized by strong contrasts in height (ranging from 65 metres of the Riviera to almost 2,000 metres for the highest peaks), climatic and vegetation, social and economic. The landscape is strongly characterized by the environmental variations: the light blue waters and the greenery of the hills up to the locality of Gargnano; then the horizontal plane of the surface of the lake and the verticality of the cliffs in the upper part of the lake, the movable fluidity of the aqueous element and the rough hardness of the rocks. The lake and the mountains, alpine atmosphere and Mediterranean flavours: these are the two elements used to define the geography of the Alto Garda Bresciano, making it a unique region.
